This amazing tour is not only a cycling experience of a lifetime but also one for the culinary senses as well.  We put as much effort into sourcing the best hotel and dining experiences available per TripAdvisor rankings as we do the best riding in each region which is why this tour is not ony for the discerning rider but for the those wanting a complete cultural experience with a great group of people sharing every amazing moment with you.  

This tour will test any accomplished cyclist as you challenge yourself on some of the most famous climbs in world cycling, including the legendary Passo dello Stelvio, the brutal Mortirolo and the bella of the Dolomites, Passo del Gardena.  With minimal time in the van you will ride most of the way with van support at all times.  You will also get to participate alongside 23,000 fellow cycling enthusiasts in one of the biggest cycling events in the Dolomites, the Sella Ronda Bike Day.

Featuring stop overs of between 2 and 4 nights in Lake Como, Bormio, Corvara and our final two nights in Lake Garda, staying in beautiful 3 and 4 star hotels or high rating B&Bs in prime locations and 3 course meals in great restaurants every night, this tour ticks all the boxes for both cyclists and non cycling partners.

DAY 1:   – MILAN AIRPORT LAKE GARDA

Velo Tours staff will meet you at Milan airport for your transfer to our lovely accommodation in Riva del Garda.  We will put your bikes together for a short ride before our 3 course dinner in the olde town where you will meet all the members of the group.​

DAY 2:  – LAKE GARDA

We will start our Italian riding campaign with a ride along the lake and our first summit, the Monte Velo.  There will be a stop for coffee and photos then the rest of the day is yours to explore the old town before a wonderful 3 course dinner at a great restaurant close by.​

DAY 3:  – LAKE GARDA / TRANSFER DOLOMITES

Today we say googdbye to beautiful Lake Garda and begin our transfer ride to the Dolomites.  Our day starts with a ride in the van then we get on the bikes and ride to our accommodation in beautiful Corvara.

DAY 4:   – DOLOMITES

Our first ride in the Dolomites will be as part of the SellaRonda Bike Day.  Over 22,000 participants took part last year in this amazing spectacle of cycling where the roads are closed to motorists between 9.30am and 3pm.

DAY 5:   – DOLOMITES 

Another great day on the bike riding through some truly scenic countryside.  This is a tough day but you will be pleasantly distracted by the backdrop.

DAY 6:   – DOLOMITES

Today is a well earned rest day to spend in town or ride on the cable car or whichever outdoor activity takes your fancy.​

DAY 7:  –  TRANSFER / BORMIO

Today we depart the Dolomites and make our way to the Alps.  We will through the valley from Merano for lunch then over the Stelvio into Bormio for the next four nights.

DAY 8:   – BORMIO

Today begins our Italian Alps leg of the tour conquering two of the most famous climbs in the Alpes region, the Mortirolo and the Gavia.  Our day finishes with a descent straight back into town before dinner in another of our great restaurants.

DAY 9:  BORMIO 

Today is another rest day.  There will be a ride offered to those who want it but why not relax in town at the thermal baths or just wander the streets and the visit the many cafes.

DAY 10:  BORMIO

Our final ride in Bormio will be a fitting finale with the Bormio 100.  This route begins with a climb up the epic Stelvio and then over the top of the Umbrail Pass into Switzerland before climbing back up the Stelvio to descend home to our hotel.  Both sides of the Stelvio in one day - awesome!

DAY 11:  TRANSFER / LAKE COMO

Today we transfer to a town on the northern tip of Lake Como to ride the final 60km to our accommodation for the last two nights.

The Passo del Ghisallo

DAY 12:  – LAKE COMO

Today we ride part of the Giro di Lombardi course which includes a ride up to the chapel of the Madonna del Ghisallo and the Museum of Cycling on the way.  After a few hours of soaking up some true cycling history we will continue our ride via the Muro di Sormano before heading home for a swim in the lake before our final dinner together

DAY 13: - DEPARTURE

Today we say farewell and make our transfer to Milano Airport.
